LEARN TO BAREBOAT.
Have you always wanted to bareboat charter? The Intermediate Cruising course is for you! Join Sail Nelson for 5 days of cruising in Desolation Sound!
Are there prerequisites?
In order to fully appreciate your week-long cruise, students must have completed the Basic Cruising Standard, VHF Radio, Basic Coastal Navigation and have their Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card.
What will we do?
This course is taught over 5 days and 4 nights. This course is designed to prepare you to be part of a week-long sailing charter. Prior to our course we will meet via Zoom to discuss trip planning, provisioning, navigation and overall course expectations.
What will I learn?
To prepare for our course, we will discuss menu planning (food not included in fee). We will also discuss trip planning and how to select an appropriate anchorage for our expected weather. We will spend the entire weekend trimming the sails and exploring the West Arm of Kootenay Lake.
What will I get?
This course is a mileage builder course and is designed to get you some extra time out on the water. As we only accept 4 students per course, there is plenty of one-on-one instruction. This enables us to really dive into whatever aspects of sailing you are looking to learn more about. If you have not completed your Basic Cruising Standard yet, we can complete it, or if you have and are looking to move up to the Intermediate Cruising Standard, we can begin to prepare you for your Intermediate course.
