Sail Nelson is proud to host a free safe water & boating community event for all community members on May 25, 2019! Come out and learn how to be safe out on the water! Our partners are eager to share their knowledge and information with you to help you have a fun and safe summer.

Who is this event for?

Anyone who enjoys being outside! It’s not just for boaters! Bring the family, bring a friend! There will be a fun-filled scavenger hunt for the kits and lots of interesting information for parents. See you there!

What can you expect?

We are adding more and more fun activities to the calendar each day, but so far here are a few of the fun things you can expect to find:

Lifejacket/PFD Fit Test: free fittings for PFDs to see if you or your little ones are wearing the right size.

Expired Flare Disposal: do you have expired flares and no idea what to do with them? Bring them down to Lakeside Park on May 25th and Nelson Fire will dispose of them safely for you.

K9 Major – BC Conservation’s newest officer! Meet four-legged officer K9 Major!

Scavenger Hunt: the kids will be busy finding hidden treasures and information at each booth! Get a stamp at each booth and be entered for prize draws!

SAR Equipment: come check out the gadgets and vehicles that Nelson SAR use to help save lives.

Wheel of Lake: test your Lake knowledge at the Friends of Kootenay Lake Booth!

Emergency Vehicles: Nelson Fire, Nelson Police and the Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association will have tools on hand for you to check out.

FREE Extinguisher Checks: have you had your extinguisher serviced lately? Get OneFire Safety to check it out for you! Free at this event only!
